Join us for our very popular peer to peer information sharing series. Each month a different Vista participant will share with us a new in depth “How To” topic. From high tech to low tech to no tech. We will learn how to organize your clothing, use a specific app, set up a smart home, discover tips in the kitchen and other tricks around the household. Have you found a way of doing something that has made your life easier that you would like to share with other blind or low vision individuals? Would you like to learn new tricks? Come join us on the fourth Wednesday of each month for a fun and informative session.

On October 22nd, our popular peer-to-peer information sharing series continues! This month, client Hannah Fairbairn will be leading a session on cooking, and hopes you will all have tips and tricks to add to a popular soup that checks the boxes for cooking without looking.
Corn chowder is quick, nutritious and delicious, and good for talking about kitchen techniques and equipment; trays, chopping boards, knives, “mise en place” (prepping all the ingredients at the beginning). Hannah also hopes to discuss the new Vista Center induction cooktop.
As a young person, Hannah had partial vision and trained as a chef. Suddenly she lost nearly all her sight, and her husband said “Why not write a book about soup – there’s no decoration in soup!” So she did and it won a big award! This recipe is in the book with 5 variations which is another reason why it’s a useful soup to have in your collection.
