“Spring in Your Step” O&M Workshop

Description

Build confidence with your cane and strengthen your travel skills

Join us at Vista Center for a one-day, in-person Orientation & Mobility workshop designed to help participants strengthen their cane skills and feel more confident navigating the world around them. Led by Chris, this hands-on session focuses on practical technique, using your senses effectively, and maintaining a steady line of travel.

This workshop is ideal for individuals who already have a basic understanding of orientation and mobility—for example, someone who has attended a previous introductory session or owns a cane but hasn’t had many opportunities to practice using it. Participants should be comfortable working in a small group setting and interested in building confidence through guided practice.

Because the focus is on group learning and foundational technique, clients who already use a cane regularly but need more detailed refinement may benefit more from individualized 1:1 training.

What to Expect:

This active, practical workshop combines instruction with real-world practice in a supportive environment. With plenty of space to move and sighted staff present for safety, participants will practice techniques together before applying them in the community.

Group size is limited to 6–7 participants to ensure personalized attention and a safe learning environment.

Workshop Agenda:

Monday, May 4th from 10:00 AM – 3:30 PM

10:00 AM – 12:00 PM | Learning & Practice
