Low Vision Expo 2012, Santa Cruz

volunteer demonstrating a large button deviceVista Center hosted this free event designed to educate blind or visually impaired individuals, their families and friends about the resources, aids, latest technology, and services available to them through Vista Center and other local organizations in the community.

Dr. Alok Bansal with Northern California Retina Vitreous Associates Medical Group, Inc. addressed treatments for various eye diseases including but not limited to Age-Related Macular Degeneration, Diabetic Retinopathy, and Glaucoma. Peter Cantisani, Accessibility Technology Consultant, discussed and demonstrated accessible applications for the iPhone and iPad. Michael Parker, from Access Ingenuity, presented and demonstrated a variety of products for blind and low vision consumers including, Openbook, Sera, Mobile Speak, Topaz, and more.
